Hawaii Starts First American Collegiate Trampoline Program Since the 1960s

In August 2006, Hawaii Academy formally started a collegiate coeducational trampoline program, independent of any university affiliation, to welcome participation by all university students, faculty, and staff, regardless of institutional affiliation, in the state of Hawaii. This is apparently the first formally organized collegiate program in the United States since competitive trampoline was discontinued as an event in men's artistic gymnastics by the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) in the late 1960s. It is not clear at this time if the NCAA or any other national governing body provided leagues for female trampoline players. Thus, Hawaii's new trampoline program is probably the first formal program for BOTH men and women of all adult ages and abilities (three abilities levels based on routine difficulties).
